Solar Power From The Car Parks Of Suffolk

Planners are thrashing out a deal with Long Island Power Authority to install solar panels on the roofs of thousands of car parks around the county in a bid to champion renewable energy sources it has been reported on the Newsday.com web site.

EnXco a Californian situated wind and solar specialist company is discussing a twenty year lease arrangement with Suffolk county to install solar panel arrays on to the car parks with a view to generate nearly fifteen million watts which could power, in the order of, three thousand homes in the area.

It is hoped that providing the scheme is voted on positively that the car parks solar panels will be in full operation by 2011. Another proposed plan is for Brookhaven’s car parks to be producing thirty-five million watts using the Suffolk scheme as its model. Our planet will literally breathe easier as more of these schemes come online to help reduce carbon emissions and the effects of global warming.
