Solar Panels and Wind Turbines – Common Fixture on British Homes?
I read an interesting article on Which.co.uk recently, about how country after country, they all line up in the quest towards harvesting solar power.
In Britain for example, many organizations are hoping for bigger, much better incentives from the government. In 2010 there is a new scheme going to be launched. The scheme is called ‘feed-in tariff’ and will guarantee that households will have above-market payments for excess electricity produced using home microgeneration technology like wind turbines and solar panels.
In many of their strong made cases, FoE – Friends of the Earth, have taken numbers from the Department of Energy and Climate Change and they have calculated many ambition schemes in which homes were producing even 6% of the whole energy needed by UK. And all this by 2020. This is equal to two Sizewell B nuclear stations or a big Drax coal-fired plant. Their schemes have been taken into consideration.
This organization says that the plans the government has, will add almost £1.17 per year to the energy bills. They also say that the measures created by the government are not enough for everybody. They say that an increase of £2.37 from 1.17 will be enough. Plus, they also require a national wide plan for solar panel installations.
“The small energy systems that aim at green electricity use solar panels or some wind turbines. They will also allow us to lower our carbon emissions in no time. They are critical to US’s development and they should be sustained,” explained Dave Timms, FoEs energy campaigner.
This will allow businesses to change the way they pay electricity and also treat the environment. It will also allow the country to create new jobs. In UK is estimated that the solar panel market and the European photovoltaic (PV) market will increase by 14% in 2010. There are now 60 million homes that use hot water supplied by solar powered systems. This is just the beginning. This is why everybody must think about getting such a system and making their homes more energy efficient. The government of each country has to also think about ways in which to help the some householders and entrepreneurs.
