New Jersey’s Largest Public Solar Panel Installation To Be Hosted In New Brunswick.
According to www.nj.com , over the next two years New Brunswick will be host to the largest public solar panel installation in New Jersey. Car park roofs, local authority buildings and schools are among the eleven sites earmarked for the solar panel arrays.
An estimated 3,397 kWh is expected to be produced by the scheme over shadowing other such installations in areas such as Morristown, Kearny, Toms River and Margate to name but a few.
Officials say that they are set to reach their target of saving the city $13,000,000 during the initial 15 years of the scheme. This represents almost 5o% of New Brunswick’s power needs. This will not only lead to the lower running costs of public utilities but, more importantly, also be benefiting the environment by reducing carbon emissions.
The solar panel company, NBS Energy Partners of Trenton, will install the systems which they will own and manage, however, they will only charge $0.011 per KWh as compared to that of the national electricity company’s charge of $0.14 per KWh.
There are many buildings owned and maintained by New Brunswick as well as the parking and school authority, its an opportunity not to be missed. New Brunswick High School alone is sited on a plot of 25 acres and will be the scheme’s primary installation.
Although New Jersey is not basking in excessive sunshine neither is it excessively cloudy and gloomy. Solar panels will generate efficient electricity even in climates known for their wet and gloomy weather.
All the bodies involved in the project have given their approval and it is expected that by 2020 New Jersey will be producing 30% of its power needs using renewable and green energy sources including solar panels and wind turbines.
