New Guidelines For The Installation Of Solar Panels In Chenoweth

According to Tennessean.Com new guidelines have had to be set up to allow for the installation of solar panels. This maybe a first for a Williams County local planning office to have such rules permitting the installation of renewable energy sources.

A situation had arisen when residents, Mr and Mrs. Wrenn, of Chenoweth wanted to install a solar panel array on the roof of their property. This could have contravened local design planning laws that stated that permission is required before any changes to the exterior of a property were made. It would be these neighborhood bylaws that may have disallowed the installation.

Where, as it was understood that it is necessary to moderate property modifications in the interest of maintaining the architecture of the area, officialdom and outdated laws cannot be allowed to stand in the way of global warming issues and the threat that such issues pose to our planet.

It is unfortunate the Wrenns’ property faces a southerly direction so installation would have to be on the front elevation of the roof to maximize available sunlight and so would make the solar panel array quite visible and potentially spoil the look of the area.

After many months of consultations between the property owners, the Wrenns’, architects, other residents and the solar panel suppliers, “Lightwave Solar Electric”, the new guidelines were set up. It was agreed that installations have to be commercially manufactured and that solar panel installations must be as unobtrusive as design would allow.

We are all now aware that our planet’s resources are finite and anything we can do, as individuals, to cut carbon dioxide emissions must be encouraged. In the case of the Wrenns’ system it would cut their carbon foot print drastically as well as reducing their yearly electricity bill to almost nothing.
